Paralegal – New Jersey

We are seeking a full-time paralegal with a minimum of 5 years’ prior litigation experience in insurance defense area of law.

Successful candidate must be qualified to work in a fast-paced environment and must be highly organized and detail oriented. We seek an enthusiastic individual who is a team player, can work independently and has a positive attitude.  The individual will be responsible for supporting 4-6 attorneys.

Responsibilities:

  • Case management from start to finish
  • Maintain and organize records, files, and databases
  • Manage attorney calendars, including court dates and meeting court deadlines
  • Scheduling party depositions, site inspections, IMEs, mediations/arbitrations, etc.
  • Consult with expert witnesses
  • Draft correspondence to clients, opposing parties, experts and case related vendors
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, complaints, and discovery requests and responses and other legal documents
  • Possess knowledge of local court rules – NJ Superior Court, PA Court of Common Pleas – Philadelphia County, NJ & PA District Courts
  • E-Filing with NJ Superior Court, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Federal Courts CM/EFC
  • Summarize party discovery responses and deposition transcripts
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Summarize medical records, prepare medical chronologies and medical specials charts
  • Ability to properly capture billing time and bill according to firm guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of local court rules and procedures essential for the job
  • Capable of forming and preparing legal documents
  • Excellent verbal and time management prowess
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Initiative and follow-through skills are a must
  • Ability to properly capture billing time and bill according to firm guidelines
  • Paralegal Certification or Associate’s Degree in paralegal studies (preferably with a Bachelor’s Degree)

Law Clerk – New Jersey
